Buescher State Park | The Coltman Collection (1973)

The land of Buescher State Park was once part of Stephen F. Austin's colonial grant from the Spanish government. To create the park, architect Arthur Fehr reimagined the existing Smithville State Park as a sister to the nearby Bastrop State Park. Civilian Conservation Corps Companies 1805 and 1811 built facilities using native materials at both, and connected the two with a scenic road through the pine forests. In this 1973 home movie, the Coltman family goes camping at Buescher State Park. After setting up the tent, the adults take in the scenery while the kids play in the mud.
