Fort Parker | Texas in Review (1958)

Texas in Review was a news magazine television program produced by the Dallas-based Jamieson Film Company for the Humble Oil & Refining Company. This segment, originally broadcast on January 20, 1958, tours Old Fort Parker. Civilian Conservation Corps Company 3807, an all-Black unit, built the replica for the 1936 Texas Centennial before developing neighboring Fort Parker State Park. But the parkland's history extends beyond the tales of Comanche raids described here. Fort Parker State Park also includes what was once the historic town of Springfield, the original seat of Limestone County that became a Black community during Reconstruction.
