Wyler Aerial Tramway | The Sandoval Family Films (1970s)

Encompassing more than 26,600 acres within El Paso city limits, Franklin Mountains State Park is the largest urban park in the United States. This 1970s home movie captures one of the park's most unique former attractions: Wyler Aerial Tramway, a 2,400-foot-long cable system that carries passengers to the summit of Ranger Peak. Privately operated from 1960 to 1986 as the El Paso Aerial Tramway, the tramway opened to the public in 2001. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department suspended tramway operations in 2018.
