Rock Art of the Lower Pecos (1980s)

Named after the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts stationed at nearby Fort Clark in the late nineteenth century, Seminole Canyon State Park fostered human occupation as far back as 7,000 years ago. This brief educational film, produced by the Witte Museum in San Antonio, takes a closer look at the surviving rock art that these prehistoric cultures left behind. Archeologist Emmanuel Anati joins a group of students to study pictographs found inside a rock shelter near the Pecos River.
