Lockhart State Park | Adventure at Our Door (c. 1959)

Before Anglo American settlers arrived in the nineteenth century, the territory surrounding Lockhart State Park belonged to the Native Americans. The 1840 Battle of Plum Creek, which forced a Comanche raiding party out of the area, occurred nearby. While the park did not open to the public until 1948, the Civilian Conservation Corps completed construction in 1935. Produced by the Jamieson Film Company for the Texas State Parks Board, this 1950s promotional film segment features one of the many park facilities built by Company 3803: a golf course.
